Enjoying a good ol’ beer in good company, discussing how to change the world for the better, one sip at a time. Now, there’s an idea we love! And when the beer is actually what’s helping make the change, we love it even more! This is the challenge Boldwin, a local organic microbrewery, undertook. Based on an idea they only worked on evenings and weekends, Boldwin is now a full-time company with its own brewery, producing beer with organic hop from the only organic hop farmer in Quebec (Martin, we raise our glass to you!). Passionate about beer and the saying, “the more the merrier,” Boldwin created a brewery collective that shares its facilities with other companies wishing to brew beer for a good cause. Apparently, LOOP, another awesome member of the impak tribe, took this opportunity to embark on a new adventure, one with a higher alcohol content 😉.
As a matter of fact, Boldwin is always looking to innovate and reduce its negative impact. For example, with their initiative (quite inventive might we add) to reuse their spent grain (beer brewing residues). Believe it or not, their spent grain can be found in artisanal soaps from Sherbrooke, and in breads baked by one of the best bakeries in the South Shore. We don’t know about you, but we’re mind-blown! Boldwin is extremely thankful for all those who keep them going. To show their gratitude, they committed to offering a $15/hour minimum wage, and encouraging access to work for people with disabilities. They love their people, their people love them, and we love them too!
It all began when two entrepreneurs randomly met and started discussing world change over a quick beer. Today, Boldwin produces beer that feels good and does good. Sometimes, grabbing a beer on a week night with some fellow dreamers is all it takes to make a difference. Judging by their success, we wish them many more nights like these. Cheers to you, boys!
